Walk the Walk, Pt. 1 (with a side of sneakers)

There is so much to say, but I'm still trying to figure it out. There is a dialogue happening (also a lot of shouting, but somewhere, a dialogue) that I very much need to be a part of...but it's going to take me some thought as to how and when to enter into the fray.  I don't think the social media are my avenue right now.  Frankly, these days, as much as I agree with a lot of what's out there (on my carefully-curated feed, mind you)...the social media are hard to take. Hello, Again

Further evidence of my incredible photography skills. The sun was shining straight into the Tahoe house and the kids were watching Home Alone 2, and I was finally (finally) revisiting the blog.  I was going to write about how being a parent of small children sometimes just doesn't offer many chances for reflection.  And just when I was typing that, my children decided they were bored and wrestled one another off the couch, so I stopped reflecting in order to keep the peace and set up a craft station.  If that's not life in a nutshell half the time, I don't know what is. Headlines

We have to hide half the magazines now that LittleMan can read. We bury the Time underneath the Highlights and the Lego Club and the Cooking Light.  We quietly tuck the headlines -- about terror, about sex abuse, about disease -- into our gym bags and out-of-sight.  I feel as though we exist on two intellectual planes: one, where we talk in hurried, whispered tones with other adults about the heartbreaking and incendiary news of the day, and another where we talk to our children and go swimming and see the Secret Life of Pets twice in one week, which lately feels like an exercise in ...
